Location:
Zhuhai is situated in the southwest of the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong Province, facing Hong Kong and Shenzhen on the east across the vast Lingding Ocean and bordering Macao on the south by land. It is 140 kilometers away from Guangzhou, the capital of Guangdong Province. The landforms here are various, including mountain, massif, plain, lake and ocean. The land area covers 1,687 k㎡ and sea area nearly 6,000 k㎡, including 146 islands, thus it is also praised as "The City with Hundred Odd Islands".

In 1953, Zhuhai County was founded, and then it was changed into Zhuhai City in 1979. It governs three administrative districts now: Xiangzhou, Doumen and Jinwan.
